Who you are booking with
This website is operated by Visiting Iceland, registration number 6805190640, Vallakór 1, 203 Reykjavík, Iceland.
Visiting Iceland is a booking agent. Every tour, transfer and activity listed here is run by an independent Icelandic operator, at the price that operator sets, and the contract to carry out the tour is between you and that operator. What Visiting Iceland does is present their trips in one place and arrange the booking and the payment. The operator is named on every tour page and on your confirmation.
Making a booking
You choose a departure on this site. Your contact details and your payment are then taken on a checkout page provided by Bókun, the booking system the operators use.
Your booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email, not at the moment you submit payment. If you do not receive one, contact us before assuming you have a place.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown in Icelandic krónur, are set by the operator, and include the taxes that apply to them. Visiting Iceland adds no booking fee of its own.
Card payments are processed by Teya through Bókun. Visiting Iceland never receives, sees or stores your card details, and no card details are entered on this website.
Some tours carry a minimum number of travellers, set by the operator. Where that applies, it is shown on the tour page before you book.
If you cancel or change
Each tour carries its operator's own cancellation policy, and these differ from operator to operator. The policy that applies to your tour is shown on its page before you book and again at checkout. Read it there rather than assuming a common rule, because there is not one.
To cancel or change a booking, contact us or the operator named on your confirmation.
If the operator cancels or changes
Tours in Iceland are called off more often than in most places, and almost always for good reason: weather, sea state, road conditions, visibility, or too few travellers for a departure to run. When an operator cancels, they will offer you another departure or a refund in line with their policy.
Operators may also alter a route or a meeting point where safety requires it.
What we ask of you
- Give contact details that reach you while you are travelling.
- Be at the meeting point at the stated time. Tours leave on time and a missed departure is usually treated as a late cancellation.
- Meet any age, health or fitness requirements stated on the tour page.
- Bring what the tour page says to bring, and dress for the weather.
- Follow the operator's safety instructions while on the tour.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. Write to the address below with your booking reference and we will take it up with the operator on your behalf. You can also contact the operator directly.
Responsibility
The operator is responsible for carrying out the tour you booked and for safety during it. Visiting Iceland is responsible for the booking service it provides: presenting the tour accurately as the operator supplied it, and passing your booking and payment on correctly.
Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under mandatory Icelandic consumer law, and nothing here excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Icelandic law and disputes belong before the Icelandic courts. As a consumer you may also raise a complaint with Neytendastofa, the Consumer Agency, or with the complaints committee for the purchase of goods and services.
